No Wake Zone Administrative Committee Application

    Applications accepted through March 27
  • This temporary administrative committee would be charged with the following responsibilities:

    • Develop a process and criteria for the Board to consider any additions, modifications, or removals of markers or zones
    • Conduct a comprehensive review of all existing no-wake markers and their current conditions, locations, and effectiveness
    • Identify areas where additional markers may be warranted to address safety, navigation, or shoreline erosion concerns
    • Evaluate whether adjustments to the placement or configuration of existing markers are needed
    • Identify any existing markers that may no longer be necessary or appropriate for continued designation
    • Assist with the development of public information tools, including an online map of all no wake zones and markers

    Guiding Principles

As the County implements the consolidated ordinance, the committee will operate with the following principles in mind:

    • Maintain public safety on County waterways
    • Protect shoreline property from erosion impacts
    • Ensure clarity for residents, boaters, and enforcement agencies
    • Provide consistent and transparent administration of no-wake markers
  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • The Board of Supervisors will select members to ensure appropriate representation, including staff expertise, waterfront property owners, and the boating community. The committee is expected to begin its work in the spring. It is anticipated this work may last as long as 12 months.

After completing its review and developing draft recommendations, the committee’s findings will be posted on the County’s website, and a public meeting will be held to receive comments. Any recommended changes, modifications, or deletions will be brought forward to the Board of Supervisors through the normal process, including a required public hearing.  If approved by the Board, changes will then be forwarded to the State for consideration.

Once its work is complete, the temporary administrative committee will be disbanded.
